Another gem from you. Syria has been the crossroads of Civilizations and the hub of East-West exchanges for over 3000 years. The port of Ugarir that was the hub of Bronze Age Mediterranean trade was in Syria. That immutable logic of Geography has stayed the same.
It's time the Western countries get rid of their moral posturing and play the Realpolitik and especially Europe today does not have an option.

Secondly the region has a history of unstable regimes, I wouldn’t say that the situation in Syria is resolved forever. Still religious infighting continues.
Keep an eye out for some pipelines from Saudi Arabia and UAE out to the Mediterranean through Syria. By ship or by pipe, the spice will flow.
